External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted the turbulent status of the Middle East, particularly addressing the rapidly changing situation in Syria following the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime by rebels. Speaking at the Manama Dialogue in Bahrain on December 8, Jaishankar noted the broader regional challenges extending from Gaza to Lebanon and Syria.
The 20th edition of the Manama Dialogue is focused on ‘Middle East leadership in shaping regional prosperity and security.’ During his address, Jaishankar emphasized India’s diplomatic efforts in resolving the ongoing conflicts in West Asia. This event marked the final part of Jaishankar’s four-day, two-nation tour, having previously visited Qatar. In Bahrain, he was welcomed by his counterpart, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. Together, they are set to co-chair the 4th India-Bahrain High Joint Commission (HJC), reviewing bilateral ties and exploring ways to enhance the multifaceted relations between the two countries.
