Get Ready for an Exciting Finale: 48 Teams Tackle 10 Critical Challenges at Ahmedabad’s 2024 Smart India Hackathon!
The Smart India Hackathon 2024 Grand Finale (Software Edition) is set to take place on December 11 and 12 at Sivanand Ashram in Ahmedabad. This prestigious event will bring together 48 teams, comprised of 339 participants, including 230 boys and 109 girls, from 15 different states across India. Supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education, the event is hosted by Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Ahmedabad.
Nineteen teams are representing GTU-affiliated colleges, with five GTU teams in the lineup. Participants will tackle 10 problem statements across key technological domains like lunar exploration, remote sensing, air quality monitoring, satellite communication and navigation, geospatial mapping, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and web mapping. Nilesh M Desai, Director of SAC, highlighted the innovative potential of this event, emphasizing the opportunity for students to develop independent setups with ISRO’s support.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017 to foster a startup culture in India, the Smart India Hackathon has evolved into the nation’s largest open innovation platform. With over 8,98,884 participants, 6,000 innovators, and 3,896 institutions involved, the hackathon has been instrumental in inspiring the creation of over 100 startups, thus driving entrepreneurship and innovation.
The event serves as a crucial arena for young talent to harness their creativity and technical expertise, directly addressing industrial challenges and contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Starting as a software-focused event, it expanded in 2018 to include a hardware edition, continuously providing a platform for solving practical challenges across various sectors.
