Discover the Awe-Inspiring Beauty: 96 Enchanting Butterfly Species, Including Rare Gems, Documented in Siang Valley
The Siang Butterfly Watching 2024 event, a pivotal initiative aimed at promoting biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism, recently concluded at Pangin in Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district. Organized by the Siang Valley MPCS as part of the Siang Eco-Adventure Fest 2024, the event spanned from November 28 to December 1. It drew 20 participants, including nature enthusiasts, researchers, and four international attendees from Tanzania.
A remarkable highlight of the event was the documentation of 96 butterfly species, showcasing rare specimens such as the Singleton, Myanmar Quaker, Common Peacock, Paris Peacock, and Common Onyx. These findings underscore the rich biodiversity of the region and highlight its conservation potential.
Experts Monsoon Jyoti Gogoi, Nawang G Bhutia, and Roshan Upadhaya were invited to share their expertise, providing valuable insights into the region’s butterfly species and contributing to the growing knowledge about these vital pollinators. Their participation added depth to the event, enriching the experience of attendees with their specialized knowledge.
The Siang Eco-Adventure Fest 2024 and its butterfly watching event effectively spotlighted the natural wealth of Arunachal Pradesh, simultaneously fostering appreciation and awareness among participants.
