The Hornbill Festival’s 25th edition kicked off today at Kisama Heritage Village in Nagaland, marking a special occasion as it celebrates its silver jubilee since its inception in 2000. This year, Sikkim joins as the Partner State, adding a new layer of cultural collaboration to the event.

On November 29, Sikkim’s Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, signaled the start of a 144-member delegation’s journey to Nagaland. This diverse group includes government officials, journalists, representatives from social organizations, self-help groups, and participants in biking and car rallies, showcasing the theme of unity and cultural exchange. “This partnership highlights the shared cultural heritage and unity among states, especially as Sikkim marks 50 years of statehood,” Tamang stated, underscoring the collaborative spirit.

Upon arriving in Nagaland on November 30, the delegation, after a night stop in Guwahati, made their way to Kohima to participate in the festival held at the Kisama Heritage Village. Dilliram Dulal, General Secretary of the Press Club of Sikkim, confirmed the team’s engagement in the festivities.

Dr. J Alam, Nagaland’s Chief Secretary, highlighted the festival’s growth into an internationally acclaimed cultural event, attracting visitors nationwide and globally. He noted the 25th anniversary adds extra significance to this year’s festival, enhancing its allure and importance on the cultural stage.
