NERIE Shillong Invites Applications for Assistant Librarian Position

The North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) in Shillong, Meghalaya, is seeking eligible candidates for the contractual position of Assistant Librarian. This opportunity offers a monthly salary of ₹45,000 and requires candidates to meet specific academic and professional criteria.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Library & Information Science with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university or institution. Additionally, applicants should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET)/SLET for Assistant Professors organized by the UGC/CSIR or an equivalent recognized body. A PhD in a relevant field, in accordance with UGC norms, may exempt candidates from certain qualifications. A minimum of two years’ experience in digital library environments is mandatory.

Desirable Qualifications:

Applicants with a PG Diploma in Library Automation and Digitization, PGDCA, or equivalent qualifications will be given preference. Knowledge of Integrated Library Management System software, particularly KOHA, and experience in creating and maintaining digital repositories using OSS, especially D-Space, are considered advantageous. Proficiency in metadata creation using international standards is also desirable.

Interested candidates are required to attend a walk-in interview on December 13, 2024, at NERIE Shillong. The reporting time is between 9 AM and 10 AM. Candidates must bring a duly completed application form, self-attested copies of relevant documents, an experience certificate, and a recent passport-sized photo.
