Stunning Bust: Guwahati Police Expose Ruthless Robbery Gang Masquerading as Innocent Vegetable Vendors!
Guwahati residents are advised to be vigilant as a police investigation has uncovered a gang of robbers posing as vegetable vendors. This group has been implicated in a series of night-time burglaries across the city. The revelation came following the arrest of seven suspects by officers from the Latashil police station. Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah revealed that the arrests were made after the police received intelligence regarding the gang’s robbery plans and subsequently accessed CCTV footage that confirmed the suspects’ activities.
The apprehended individuals include Sadek Ali, Akbar Ali, Lokman Ali, Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, and Saidul Rahman from Dalgaon in Darrang; along with Joynal Abedin and Dilwar Khan from Baghbor in Barpeta district. While Abedin worked as a cab driver, Dilwar Khan was identified as a receiver of stolen goods. The others posed as vegetable sellers, transporting produce from various locations including Dalgaon and Barpeta, vending during the day, and committing burglaries at night before leaving the city.
Investigations revealed that the gang uses rods to break into homes and might resort to violence against resisting residents, potentially causing fatal outcomes. Dilwar Khan had previously been arrested thrice for similar offenses in Guwahati. The police are actively pursuing other members linked to this organized crime group to prevent further incidents.
Residents are urged to exercise caution with doorstep vegetable vendors, underscoring the need for community vigilance to thwart criminal activities masquerading as everyday sales. This incident highlights the innovative tactics employed by criminal networks to deceive unsuspecting citizens, calling for heightened awareness and cooperation with law enforcement agencies for community safety.
