Breaking: PM Modi’s Anticipated Vizag Visit Cancelled Amidst Alarming Bay of Bengal Weather Warnings
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam, originally planned for November 29, has been canceled due to expected severe weather linked to a depression over the Bay of Bengal. The visit was set to include the foundation stone-laying for a significant Green Hydrogen Project in Anakapalli district. This ambitious project, a collaboration between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NREDCAP), is projected to become India’s largest green energy initiative. Spanning 1,600 acres, the project aims to produce 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, along with green ammonia, methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel, with an estimated investment of ₹1.85 lakh crores. Local authorities had arranged for the event to be held at the AU Engineering College grounds virtually. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rains across the state due to a deep depression, prompting the cancellation. NTPC officials anticipate the event might be rescheduled for mid-December. The weather system, which intensified into a depression on November 25, is expected to bring rain from November 26 and continue through November 30.
