A day after an on-duty constable, Kiran Pal, was fatally stabbed in Govindpuri, south-east Delhi, the main suspect, Raghav alias Rocky, 20, was shot dead in an encounter with police in Sangam Vihar on Sunday. The incident followed an altercation after the constable asked three men to stop their scooter early Saturday morning. While the other two suspects were apprehended earlier and charged with murder, a joint team of Delhi Police Special Cell and Narcotics Cell tracked down Rocky after receiving a tip-off. When approached by the authorities, Rocky fired at the police instead of surrendering, prompting a response that led to his death. He was taken to ESIC Hospital, Okhla, where he died from his injuries. Police recovered a .32 bore pistol and two live rounds from the scene. No officers were injured, and the police confirmed adherence to protocols concerning deaths in police operations.
