Shocking Autopsy Revelations: Multiple Bullet Wounds Found on Victims in Jiribam Tragedy
In a recent tragic incident in Manipur’s Jiribam district, autopsy reports have revealed harrowing details about the deaths of three individuals, part of a group of six killed allegedly by Kuki militants. Authorities disclosed that post-mortem examinations conducted at the Silchar Medical College Hospital in Assam’s Cachar district showed multiple bullet wounds and severe lacerations on the victims’ bodies.
Among the deceased was three-year-old Chingkheinganba Singh, whose autopsy revealed the devastating extent of violence he suffered. The report noted that his right eye was missing, with a bullet wound in his skull. Additionally, Chingkheinganba sustained fractures in his chest and lacerations on his forearms and other body parts. Signed on November 17, the report mentioned that his body was already decomposing, making it challenging to identify the cause of death without further forensic analysis from Guwahati’s Directorate of Forensic Sciences.
His 25-year-old mother, L Heitonbi Devi, also perished in the attack. Her report detailed three bullet wounds in her chest and one on her buttock. Despite being brought to the hospital seven days after her death, detailed examinations were conducted to ascertain the violent nature of her demise.
Their grandmother, 60-year-old Y Rani Devi, suffered five bullet wounds on various parts of her body, including the skull, chest, abdomen, and arm. Her body was examined five days post-mortem, and the cause of her death remains unclear until further forensic analysis is available.
The six deceased individuals, belonging to the Meitei community, were reported missing from a relief camp in Jiribam following a gunfight between security forces and suspected Kuki-Zo militants, which resulted in the death of 10 insurgents on November 11. Their bodies were subsequently discovered in the Jiri river in Jiribam and the neighboring Barak river in Assam’s Cachar district.
Authorities are still awaiting post-mortem reports for another woman and two children involved in this tragic incident. The brutal killings have drawn attention to the ongoing violence in the region, underscoring the need for heightened security and peacekeeping efforts.
