Powerful Call for Peace: Thadou Inpi Urges Unity Among Leaders to End Manipur’s Violence
The Thadou Inpi, representing Manipur’s Thadou tribe, has called for unity among the central and state governments, as well as leaders of all communities, to bring an end to the ongoing violence in the region. In a statement released on November 23, the organization emphasized that its members, although severely impacted by the conflict, continue to prioritize calls for peace.
The Thadou Inpi highlighted the urgent need for peace to alleviate the “untold sufferings” of the people, stressing that harmony is crucial for the welfare of both Manipur and the nation. Addressing comments made by 10 Kuki legislators, who labeled certain Thadou and Hmar representatives as “pitiful fringes,” the Thadou Inpi questioned whether these statements indicate anti-Thadou activities by the legislators.
Notably, several of these Kuki legislators are part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Manipur. The Thadou Inpi criticized the paradox in demanding the dismissal of a government or establishing a separate administration while simultaneously supporting or participating in the same government structure.
The organization further accused the 10 MLAs of prioritizing political opportunism over genuine efforts to address and reduce the hardships faced by the people amidst the ongoing conflict.
By publicly questioning political motives and advocating for unified action towards peace, the Thadou Inpi seeks to bring attention to the contradictions in the political landscape and the pressing need for collaborative initiatives to restore peace and stability in Manipur.
