Urgent Crackdown: Food Safety Officials Expose Alarming Violations at Mallapur Nutraceutical Units
In a recent crackdown on nutraceutical manufacturing units, Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety task force conducted thorough inspections at IDA Mallapur on November 20 and 21, 2024. Significant hygiene violations were discovered at both Vin Biomed and Nuvista Pharmaceutical Private Limited facilities.
At Vin Biomed, inspectors found expired raw materials, including food color mixtures and CyanoCobalamin, and improperly labeled chocolate and vanilla powders. The facility also faced issues such as the absence of an internal testing laboratory, water stagnation near mixing areas, and inadequate pest control measures. Additionally, there was a failure to maintain cleaning schedules and a food recall mechanism.
Similarly, at Nuvista Pharmaceutical, inspectors noted damaged infrastructure with flaking plaster, poor ventilation, and water seepage in storerooms. Food handlers were observed without essential protective gear, and the unit lacked necessary medical fitness certificates and audit mechanisms. These findings underscore significant lapses in adhering to food safety protocols.
The inspections, reported on November 23, 2024, highlight pressing concerns within the industry, calling for immediate rectification to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
