Heartbreaking Tragedy: Devastating Cachar Road Accidents Claim Six Lives, Including a Beloved Family of Four | Guwahati News
On Monday, two separate road accidents in Assam’s Cachar district resulted in the deaths of six individuals. The first incident occurred on the Silchar-Kalain road in Ranighat, where a head-on collision between an autorickshaw and a pickup van claimed five lives, including four members of the same family. The victims, identified as Zakir Uddin (54), his wife Rezia Begum (46), their children Dilwar Hossain (28) and Rehana Begum (24), along with a neighbor, Tahir Uddin (40), were residents of Bhairabpur in the Karigirah area. The autorickshaw, heading towards Silchar, was severely damaged in the crash. Despite prompt action by local police, led by Cachar Superintendent of Police Numul Mahatta, who responded to the scene, the victims succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. The autorickshaw driver’s identity and condition remain undisclosed.
In another tragic incident on NH-306, a young motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a water tanker. These accidents highlight the ongoing issues with road safety in the region, raising concerns about vehicle operation and infrastructure quality.
