Transformative Workshop in Mebo: Boosting Rural Governance with PRI-CBO Convergence to Empower Arunachal
In Arunachal Pradesh, a Block Level Orientation Workshop focused on the universalization of Phase-I PRI-CBO Convergence was organized at the Mebo Inspection Bungalow. This workshop, a collaboration between the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) and the Mebo Sub-Division administration, aimed to foster cooperation between Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to enhance grassroots service delivery in the Mebo CD block.
The event was presided over by Extra Assistant Commissioner Toni Mitkong, who emphasized the importance of PRI-CBO convergence for regional development, highlighting its potential to improve governance and project delivery. Key attendees included Zila Parishad Member Gumin Tayeng, Panchayat leaders, department officials, and representatives from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Kudumbashree, a National Resource Organization (NRO).
Nirvay Kumar Pankaj, Block Mission Manager of BMMU Mebo, introduced the ArSRLM mission, showcasing the PRI-CBO convergence pilot project through a video presentation. This presentation provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the initiative, illustrating its phased implementation and strategic framework for unified rural development.
Mohd. Safder, State Project Coordinator of Kudumbashree NRO, highlighted the importance of PRI-CBO convergence in fostering democratic engagement and developing skilled human resources for effective project oversight. He emphasized the creation of committees like the Gram Panchayat Planning Facilitation Team (GPPFT) and the Village Organization Coordination Committee (VOCC) for smooth project execution.
Department heads from Family & Health Welfare, Agriculture, Horticulture, and more presented ongoing schemes, challenges, and collaboration opportunities with CBOs to bridge implementation gaps. Ms. Shylaja, Mentor Resource Person from Kudumbashree NRO, shared insights from similar initiatives in other regions, providing strategies for overcoming local challenges.
The workshop concluded with a call to action from Extra Assistant Commissioner Mitkong, urging sustained commitment to the PRI-CBO model to drive Mebo’s rural development goals. Participants left with renewed enthusiasm for advancing rural governance and community-driven development across the Mebo block.
