Senior BJP leader and Nagrota MLA, Devinder Singh Rana, passed away on October 31 in a Delhi hospital after a period of illness. Rana, who recently garnered attention for securing the Nagrota Assembly seat by a record margin, was recognized as the wealthiest contender in the Jammu division. Before his tenure with the BJP, he was a part of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC).
The news of his demise has elicited an outpouring of condolences from across the political spectrum in Jammu & Kashmir. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed his shock at the sudden loss, emphasizing the impact on a day otherwise considered auspicious.
