Betrayed and Overlooked: Gaurav Gogoi Slams Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Disregard for Dedicated BJP Members
On October 24, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleged growing discontent within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming it could lead to defections. Speaking to the media, Gogoi suggested that the political climate in Assam appears favorable for Congress, as public enthusiasm has surged following the announcement of the party’s candidates.
According to Gogoi, internal conflicts within the BJP have escalated, resulting in widespread dissatisfaction among its members. He identified Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership style as a primary cause of the unrest. Gogoi claimed that since Sarma’s switch from Congress to BJP, he has marginalized veteran BJP members who were instrumental in the party’s growth. This perceived neglect has left many feeling alienated, causing some to contemplate joining Congress, he argued.
Gogoi emphasized the depth of disillusionment, stating, “The disillusionment among BJP’s own ranks is evident.” He noted that BJP members, who have long contributed to the party’s success, feel overlooked under Sarma’s leadership. This widespread resentment, particularly toward the Chief Minister, provides Congress with a strategic opportunity to increase its influence in Assam.
