Gauhati University in Assam is accepting applications for the role of Contractual Faculty in the Department of Geography, specifically for the PG Diploma Course in Remote Sensing and GIS. This opportunity is initially a six-month appointment, with two positions available.
Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree or M.Tech in Geography, Geoinformatics, Geospatial Science, or Remote Sensing from a recognized university, with a Ph.D. being advantageous. Relevant industry experience in geoinformatics, including the use of geospatial technologies, spatial data analysis, and GIS software, is highly desirable. Expertise in project collaboration with industry partners is preferred.
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or ENVI, and be skilled in using tools like Total stations, DGPS, and drones. A strong knowledge of programming languages, particularly Python, and familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques as applied to geospatial data is required. Additional experience in data visualization, modeling, and advanced analytical methods in Geoinformatics will be beneficial.
The role involves teaching Geoinformatics courses, mentoring students, and participating in research aligned with the department’s objectives.
