Guwahati Students Gain Hands-On Forensic Ballistics Insight from Indian Army Professionals
Guwahati: Fifty forensic science students from a private university in Guwahati recently participated in an educational visit to the Indian Army’s 51 Sub Area Provost Unit to deepen their understanding of forensic ballistics.
Held on September 27, the interactive session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, as stated by Guwahati-based Defence PRO, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat. During the visit, the unit’s experts delivered a comprehensive lecture covering key concepts and techniques in forensic ballistics.
The students were given a unique opportunity to visit the unit’s crime scene room, where they received in-depth briefings on evidence collection, analysis, and preservation. This hands-on exposure allowed them to grasp the complexities of forensic investigation more effectively.
Additionally, the students were able to understand the significance of ballistic analysis in crime solving through practical demonstrations and briefings. An interactive tea session further provided a platform for the students to engage with the unit personnel, clarify doubts, and gain valuable insights.
The visit was deemed a resounding success, with students expressing their appreciation for the unit’s hospitality and expertise. Many students noted that the experience had significantly broadened their understanding of forensic ballistics and its practical applications.
Lt Col Rawat highlighted that this partnership between the university and the army unit exemplifies the collaborative spirit necessary to advance forensic science education.
