Empowering Health: Pasighat’s Red Run Marathon Celebrates World Pharmacist Day with Passion and Unity
To commemorate World Pharmacist Day, Apex Professional University (APU) hosted a dynamic Red Run Marathon, involving male and female students in a vital health initiative. The marathon, held today, began at the APU campus, with female participants racing towards the Police Station and male participants heading to Riba Canteen/Medical Char-ali.
The event, conducted in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society under the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), focused on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youth. This initiative is significant, as the National Health Survey 5 reveals that only 21.6% of women and 30.7% of men aged 15-49 in India have comprehensive knowledge about HIV/AIDS.
As part of this extensive health campaign, the marathon also featured a health screening camp, underscoring the importance of education in adolescent health and mental well-being. Representatives from Red Ribbon Clubs across the state participated, with opportunities to compete at state, regional, and national levels, transforming the event into a robust advocacy platform.
In the race, Rajkumar Charoh from Pharmaceutical Sciences secured the top spot among the boys, followed by Sonam Jurme Khamba from the Law department and Ogam Passing from B.Ed. In the girls’ category, Lobsang Tselam from B.Ed emerged victorious, with Christina Padung (B.Ed) and Okenmang Darung (Law) finishing in second and third place, respectively.
The successful organization of the Red Run Marathon highlighted APU’s commitment to health advocacy, while also fostering a competitive and educational environment for its students.
