Tripura CM Lays Foundation Stone for ADB-Funded Water Supply Project
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated the foundation stone for a significant water supply improvement project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This ambitious initiative, with an allocated budget of Rs 530 crore and Rs 330 crore already disbursed, aims to enhance water supply systems across 12 towns in the state.
At the ceremony held in Udaipur, Gomati district, CM Saha highlighted the project’s profound impact, stating that it would benefit approximately 75,000 families within 12 civic bodies. "Upon completion, nearly 4 lakh individuals will have better access to clean water,” he emphasized.
Key components of the project include the installation of 305 km of new water pipelines, 25 deep tubewells, 18 iron removal plants, and four water treatment facilities. The multistage project is expected to be executed over the next three years, divided into three phases.
Expressing his gratitude toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their support, Chief Minister Saha urged officials to ensure that the allocated funds are utilized effectively and responsibly.
This substantial initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to improving public health and infrastructure, promising a considerable upgrade in water accessibility for the residents of Tripura.
