India Crushes Bangladesh: Dominates First Test with a Commanding 227-Run Lead!
India Secures Dominant Position Against Bangladesh in Opening Test
India’s bowlers delivered a commanding performance, dismissing Bangladesh for a paltry 149 in their first innings, establishing a significant 227-run lead on the second day of the opening Test on September 20.
Responding to India’s formidable total of 376, Bangladesh struggled immensely, managing to survive only 47.1 overs before being bowled out in the post-tea session. The visiting side’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure from India’s potent bowling attack.
Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the standout bowler for India, finishing with impressive figures of 4/50. He received substantial support from Akash Deep, who claimed 2/19, Mohammed Siraj with 2/30, and Ravindra Jadeja, who also took 2/19.
Bangladesh’s top scorers were Shakib Al Hasan, contributing 32 runs, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, remaining unbeaten with 27 runs. Despite their efforts, the team fell significantly short against the disciplined and aggressive Indian bowling.
Earlier in the day, India resumed their first innings at 339/6. However, they quickly lost their remaining four wickets, adding only 37 runs to their overnight score to be all out for 376 in 91.2 overs. Notably, Ravichandran Ashwin, who started the day on 102, added 11 more runs to finish on 113, while Ravindra Jadeja fell just short of a century, out for 86.
From Bangladesh’s side, Hasan Mahmud stood out, completing a noteworthy five-wicket haul with figures of 5/83. Taskin Ahmed also made valuable contributions with three wickets.
India’s formidable first innings total and their bowlers’ clinical performance have set the stage for a strong position in the opening Test, putting Bangladesh under considerable pressure as the match progresses.
