Shocking Twist: Beloved Choreographer Jani Master Faces 14-Day Judicial Custody, Sent to Chanchalguda Central Jail
Choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, widely known as Jani Master, was presented at the Upparpally court on Friday, September 20, 2024, and subsequently placed in judicial custody for 14 days. Jani Master had been arrested a day earlier in Goa by the Special Operation Team (SOT) of Cyberabad police and transported to Hyderabad in the early hours of Friday.
According to a senior official investigating the case, the police plan to petition for his custody within the next few days. “The case is strong, and chances of bail are very slim. Discussions are underway about applying for his custody in court. Questioning will be done regarding the allegations levelled against him,” the official stated.
Jani Master is currently lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail as part of his judicial custody. The arrest has dominated headlines following accusations of sexual assault by a 21-year-old female colleague, who claimed that the abuse began when she was still a minor. This case has ignited debates concerning the safety of women in the film industry and workplaces at large.
The Telangana Women’s Commission and the Movie Artists Association (MAA) have expressed their support for the case, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues of misconduct in professional environments.
