West Jaintia Triumphs with Unstoppable Force in Meghalaya Youth League Zone B – A Dominant Victory!
The West Jaintia District Sports Association (WJDSA) has dominated both the U-14 and U-16 categories in Zone B of the Meghalaya Youth League 2024. In a remarkable performance, WJDSA’s U-14 team secured a 4-0 victory against second-placed Amlarem Block Sports Association, powered by a hat-trick from Kaisarmi Dkhar. The U-16 match concluded in a 1-1 draw, solidifying WJDSA’s lead.
WJDSA now tops the U-14 standings with 21 points, leading Amlarem by eight points. In the U-16 category, they hold a six-point margin with 17 points.
In other Zone B matches, Laskein Block Sports Association drew 2-2 with East Jaintia District Football Association in the U-14 category. East Jaintia took a 1-0 victory in the U-16 match.
Zone C saw Ri-Bhoi District Sports Association overwhelming Sohra Sports Association with significant wins: 5-0 in U-14 and 10-0 in U-16, with both Iaisynroplang Syiemlieh and Me-u-ba-ai Sumer achieving hat-tricks. Shillong Sports Association defeated Western Ri-Bhoi Association 4-0 in U-16, though Ri-Bhoi District continues to lead in both divisions.
Nongstoin District Sports Association showcased dominance in Zone D, defeating Mawshynrut Sports Association 5-0 in U-14 and 4-0 in U-16. Ronifield Dkhar Rit scored a hat-trick for the U-14 team. Pyndengumiong District Sports Association edged out Mawkyrwat District Sports Association with two 1-0 victories, moving up to third in the U-16 standings. Eastern Border Sports Association and Tyrsad Area Sports Association split their matches, with EBSA winning 2-0 in U-14 and drawing 2-2 in U-16.
Nongstoin leads both age groups in Zone D, with Pyndengumiong and Eastern Border in second place for U-14 and U-16, respectively.
Supported by the state government, the Meghalaya Football Association organizes this tournament, with the top two teams from each zone advancing to the quarterfinals. Zone A in Garo Hills has already completed its matches.
