Harsh Goenka Exposes Shocking ‘Unequal Treatment’ at Lalbaugcha Raja: Commoners Struggle Amid VIP Privilege | Watch Emotional Video
Lalbaugcha Raja Devotees Face Unequal Treatment; Viral Video Sparks Public Outcry
Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja temple recently witnessed throngs of devotees gathering to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. However, a viral video showing volunteers manhandling common worshippers has stirred public outrage.
The footage, shared by RPG Enterprises chairman Harsh Goenka on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), highlights the stark contrast in treatment between ordinary devotees and VIPs. In his post, Goenka questioned, “Ever wondered why people opt for VIP darshan at Lalbaugcha Raja? It’s because the common devotee often faces long waits and crowds, highlighting the unequal treatment. Isn’t faith supposed to be equal for all?”
The video has fueled a debate on social media about fairness and equality during devotional practices. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival draws thousands of devotees, including high-profile VIPs and celebrities, to Lalbaugcha Raja. The festival, synonymous with the iconic Ganesh idol housed at the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, sees worshippers seeking blessings from the revered deity.
Notable visits include Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, and Union minister and BJP national president JP Nadda. The first look of this year’s Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on September 5, with the 10-day festival beginning on September 6 and continuing until Anantha Chaturdashi.
Founded in 1934 at Putlabai Chawl, the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, managed by the Kambli family, has been a central attraction for over 80 years. Devotees from India and abroad celebrate Lord Ganesha’s wisdom and intelligence during this period, welcoming idols into their homes and visiting colorful pandals.
The viral video underscores the festivity’s broader issue: the need for equal treatment of all worshippers, aligning with the fundamental principle that faith is equal for everyone.
