Assam Government Partners with Dassault Aviation for Aerospace Skill Development
In a landmark move, the Assam government has forged a collaboration with Dassault Aviation to cultivate skilled manpower in the aerospace sector. This strategic partnership is set to unlock significant job opportunities and boost skill development for the youth in the region. Beneficiaries of this initiative will include 300 engineering graduates specializing in Robotics, Aerospace, Defense, Artificial Intelligence, and related fields.
Dassault Systems India Pvt Ltd. has pledged an investment of Rs 200 crore, with additional support provided in the form of external monitoring, advisory, and implementation. The Assam government will contribute Rs 40 crore to the project. A state-of-the-art Center of Excellence will be established at Assam Engineering College as part of this initiative.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the collaboration, emphasizing its focus on specialized training in aerospace technologies. He highlighted that this program aims to equip students and professionals with the necessary skills to excel in the aerospace industry, thereby catalyzing regional development.
Dassault Aviation, a global frontrunner in the aerospace sector, will be pivotal in the training program, bringing in their substantial expertise and resources. The collaboration is being hailed as a major step towards invigorating the aerospace industry in Assam and contributing to the state’s broader developmental goals.
In a related development, the Assam cabinet has resolved to amend the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the withdrawal of petty and minor cases in subordinate courts. The adjustment aims to provide additional time for addressing serious offenses and to alleviate jail overcrowding by releasing undertrial prisoners. This measure is projected to result in the withdrawal of 81,000 petty and minor cases by March 2024, according to Chief Minister Sarma.
This comprehensive approach, combining skill development in aerospace and judicial reform, underscores Assam’s commitment to progressive governance and socio-economic advancement.
