Brave Heroes Fall: Heart-Wrenching Loss as Two Army Personnel Killed in Intense Gunfight with Terrorists in J&K’s Kishtwar
Two Army personnel were killed and two others injured in an encounter that erupted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on September 13. The clash ignited when terrorists hiding in the Pingnal Dugadda forest fired indiscriminately upon spotting security forces, who had initiated a cordon-and-search operation in the Naidgham area based on specific intelligence.
In the ensuing gunfight, Sepoy Arvind Singh and Junior Commissioned Officer Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar lost their lives, while two other soldiers sustained injuries. The injured personnel received preliminary treatment at a local hospital before being airlifted to an Army hospital for further care.
Simultaneously, in another encounter in J&K’s Baramulla district, security forces eliminated one militant. Authorities believe around 2–3 militants remain trapped in a building in the Chak Tapper area, prompting ongoing operations.
Earlier that day, two terrorists were neutralized in an encounter in Basantgarh, near the Kathua-Udhampur border, following a swift response by paramilitary troops and police personnel who cordoned off the area. This incident occurred shortly after a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was injured due to unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector.
These incidents underscore the persistent tension and violence in the region, highlighting the security forces’ ongoing efforts to counter terrorism and maintain stability.
