Demanding Justice: Kejriwal Must Resign as CM After SC Upholds Legal Arrest, Says Furious Manoj Tiwari
News Alert: Court Bail for Delhi CM Sparks Call for Resignation
Shillong, September 13: As Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders celebrate the granting of bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) underscores the conditions set by the Supreme Court as indicative of his “conviction” in the liquor policy case.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has called for Kejriwal’s immediate resignation following the Supreme Court’s validation of his arrest and the imposition of stringent bail conditions. The Court required Kejriwal to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh accompanied by two sureties.
“Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail for about six months, and now the court has upheld his arrest as legal. In light of such stern observations by the court, he must quit the post on ethical grounds,” Tiwari insisted. He further criticized Kejriwal for his apparent indifference to the plights faced by Delhi residents, suggesting that a compassionate leader would have resigned much earlier.
On August 5, the Delhi High Court had also declared Kejriwal’s arrest legal, emphasizing the collection of sufficient evidence before his detention.
In a video statement, Tiwari outlined the Supreme Court’s bail conditions, arguing that Kejriwal’s resignation would pave the way for improved governance in the capital. Tiwari highlighted the city’s ongoing crises, such as waterlogging, clogged drains, and deteriorating infrastructure, accusing Kejriwal of focusing solely on retaining his position.
The Supreme Court has restricted Kejriwal from visiting the Delhi Secretariat or signing any official file unless necessary, effectively rendering him non-functional.
Earlier today, the Court granted bail to Kejriwal but barred him from making any public comments about the liquor policy case. Tiwari emphasized that these restrictions confirm Kejriwal’s incapacitation to work effectively for the city.
The BJP’s demand sets the stage for intensified political pressure on Kejriwal amid his legal and administrative challenges. (IANS)
