NCYM Celebrates Annual Youth Day Across Kohima Diocese
Kohima, September 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) marked its annual Youth Day with celebrations held across various parishes within the Diocese of Kohima. This year’s theme, inspired by Isaiah 40:31, "Those Who Hope in the Lord will Run and not Weary," set the tone for the day’s events, focusing on hope and spiritual rejuvenation.
The central celebration took place at St. Xavier Church, Zhavame, under St. Ignatius Parish, Razeba. The highlight of the event was the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, the Director of NCYM. During his homily, Fr. Kurian underscored the virtues of hope, service, and humility, urging the youth to remain open to God’s healing.
Following the Mass, the NCYM President, Dr. Rosou Pohena, extended Presidential Greetings, and Rev. Sr. Mariam Chothe, MSMHC, Lady Animator of NCYM, delivered a motivational address. Sr. Mariam encouraged the youth to trust in God’s promises and serve as beacons of hope, drawing inspiration from exemplary figures like Moses and Mother Teresa.
The program included an inspiring performance by the Zhavame Catholic Youth Association and a presentation by Stephen J. Kithan, Chief Editor of Vibes, an NCYM publication. The day concluded on a vibrant note with a spirited Futsal match between the Razeba Parish Youth and NCYM Office Bearers.
The entire event was harmoniously orchestrated by Veronica Nriame, General Secretary of NCYM, offering a mix of spiritual reflection and community engagement that resonated deeply with all attendees.
