Magadh Express Splits in Bihar, No Injuries Reported
In a startling incident, the Islampur-bound Magadh Express (train number 20802) en route from New Delhi experienced an unexpected separation between its coaches on Sunday, September 8, in Bihar’s Buxar district. The mishap occurred at approximately 11:07 a.m. when the coupling between coaches 13 and 14 detached, splitting the train into two sections.
The incident took place between the Twiniganj and Raghunathpur stations, as confirmed by railway authorities. Fortunately, no passengers were injured during the separation. Immediate action was taken to halt the train and transport it to the Raghunathpur railway station for repairs.
Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railways, provided a detailed account of the situation. "The 20802 DN Magadh Express passed Twiniganj station at 11:07 hours. However, the train uncoupled between coach no. SER-192158 (S-7), the 13th from the engine, and coach no. SER-182333 (S-6), the 14th from the engine, at kilometer 635/32 on the down line between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur at 11:08 hours," Chandra stated. The Self-Propelled Accident Relief Train (SPART) was promptly dispatched to the scene at 11:35 hours to address the issue.
This incident highlights critical safety concerns within the railway system, but the timely response ensured there were no injuries or further disruptions. Authorities are investigating the cause of the coupling failure to prevent future occurrences. This event underscores the importance of stringent maintenance protocols and emergency preparedness in railway operations.
