Urgent Appeal: Naga Students’ Federation Demands Immediate Action to Stop Illegal Immigration Amid Bangladesh Crisis
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed deep concern over the escalating crisis in Bangladesh, causing regional unrest and posing a significant threat to the Naga homeland’s integrity. Alarmingly, reports have surfaced of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants entering the state, potentially triggering a mass exodus into Naga territories.
The NSF warns this situation could undermine the Naga identity, culture, and future, and stresses the problem is not just statistical but a substantial existential threat. The NSF calls for immediate and robust action against this demographic influx, urging vigilance among Naga people to report any suspicious activities. The Federation has urged its Federating Units and subordinate bodies to strictly control the influx, stating that vigilance is vital for survival.
In a statement, the NSF implores Naga individuals to remain alert and provide full cooperation in halting the demographic intrusion. Furthermore, the NSF demands Naga Political Groups refrain from interfering with the efforts of NSF’s Federating Units and subordinate bodies. Any entity aiding illegal immigrants must cease immediately to maintain a unified front against this threat.
The NSF has also expressed frustration over the lack of action from the Nagaland government despite multiple representations, the latest being on 28th February 2024. Consequently, the NSF demands the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regime across Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts within 14 days. Failure to enforce these measures will be perceived as a governmental failure to protect the Naga people.
The Federation is prepared to take further actions if the ILP regime is not promptly enacted. The NSF urges all individuals, organizations, and government bodies to recognize the seriousness of this threat and act promptly. This is a collective battle for the Naga homeland’s survival, and unity is paramount.
