Transforming Coal Transportation: Top 38 Priority Rail Projects Unveiled for Efficient Logistics

The Ministry of Coal has pinpointed 38 key rail projects aimed at enhancing coal logistics across the nation. In a concerted effort with the Ministry of Railways, these projects will be expedited to bolster rail connectivity, ensure timely coal supply, reduce logistics costs, and enhance transportation efficiency.

Among the prioritized projects, the government has greenlit two major rail initiatives in Odisha. The Sardega-Bhalumuda double line will aid in the efficient evacuation of coal from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) mines and several private mining operations. Additionally, the Bargarh Road-Nawapara Road new single line will streamline coal transportation from the Talcher Coalfield.

These strategic developments underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening the coal supply chain, which is critical for the country’s energy infrastructure.
