Why Post Malone Was ‘Terrified’ Yet Inspired Working with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé: An Emotional Journey
Post Malone recently opened up about working with music legends Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, admitting that he felt somewhat out of his league collaborating with such huge stars. Reflecting on his experiences in a New York Times interview published on August 8, the 29-year-old artist marveled at Swift and Beyoncé’s extraordinary levels of fame.
During the making of the music video for their popular track “Fortnight,” Malone shared how Swift had to take extreme measures to avoid being seen by drones and helicopters, even riding onto the set hidden under “an umbrella and drapes.” Beyoncé took secrecy to another level while working on their collaboration for her album Cowboy Carter. Malone revealed that she had one of her representatives personally deliver the track “LEVII’S JEANS” to his compound in Utah to prevent leaks. Remarkably, Post Malone never even met Beyoncé during the process; they recorded in separate studios and communicated via text to ensure their project remained confidential.
Navigating these highly secretive and pressured environments was daunting for Malone. “It was terrifying,” he confessed, adding, “I can’t even imagine being at their level — it must suck. That’s so much pressure.” Despite the intense nature of the collaborations, Malone expressed immense admiration for both artists. He called Swift’s album, The Tortured Poets Department, a “once in a lifetime” masterpiece and described Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter as “beautiful.”
Although collaborating with such icons placed Malone outside his comfort zone, his experiences shed light on the extraordinary pressures faced by Swift and Beyoncé. Despite the challenges, he’s grateful for the opportunity to work with them and praises their extraordinary talent and dedication.
