Delhi HC Grants Crucial Lifeline to Ex-IAS Trainee Puja Khedkar Amidst UPSC Mastermind Allegations
Delhi High Court Grants Interim Protection to Sacked IAS Trainee Puja Khedkar Amid Fraud Allegations
On August 12, 2024, the Delhi High Court provided interim protection from arrest to former IAS trainee Puja Khedkar, whose civil service candidacy was recently annulled by the UPSC due to cheating allegations and improper use of OBC and disability quotas. Justice Subramonium Prasad extended the interim protection until August 21, requesting responses from both the Delhi Police and UPSC regarding her anticipatory bail plea. The bench decided not to arrest Khedkar until the next hearing date.
During the hearing, senior advocate Siddharth Luthra represented Khedkar, while Naresh Kaushik appeared for the UPSC. The Union Public Service Commission labeled Khedkar a "mastermind," alleging that she fraudulently cleared her civil services exam and manipulated her identity to exceed the permissible number of exam attempts.
Khedkar, from the 2023 IAS batch, is under investigation for these purported irregularities. During her probation as an assistant collector at the Pune district collectorate, she was accused of abusing her power to gain undeserved perks and facilities.
The case is scheduled for further hearing on August 21.
