Unveiling Magic: Everything We Learned at Disney’s Jaw-Dropping Parks Panel at the 2024 D23 Expo

Disney announced the development of a new villains-themed area at Magic Kingdom during its showcase at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Josh D’Amaro revealed that substantial expansions, including a “Monsters, Inc.” land and a “Cars” section, are underway. The announcements come as Disney plans to invest $60 billion in its experiences division over the next decade, with 70% of the funds dedicated to new attractions in both domestic and international parks.
Rita Ora and Shaboozey performed to celebrate the new villainous land and the reimagined Frontier Land. Hollywood Studios will introduce a “Monsters, Inc.” land featuring a Laugh Factory-coaster ride, while Animal Kingdom will debut a Tropical America’s land with an Indiana Jones ride set for 2027. Disneyland’s California Adventure will see additions inspired by “Avatar” and “Coco.”
Internationally, Disneyland Paris will feature “The Lion King” and “Frozen” areas, Shanghai and Hong Kong will get new Spider-Man attractions, and Tokyo will debut a nighttime show called “Reach for the Stars.” Disney’s cruise line will add four ships between 2027 and 2031.
Additionally, Disney announced a $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, with new collaborations bringing Disney Animation, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel characters into Fortnite, reaffirming Disney’s robust partnership with Epic Games.
