Urgent Task Force Formed to Investigate Tragic Death of Beloved Female Doctor at Kolkata Hospital
West Bengal Probes Mysterious Death of PG Medical Student at R.G. Kar Medical College
Kolkata, Aug 9: The West Bengal Health Department has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a female house staff member at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. The woman, a second-year postgraduate student, was found dead with injury marks on her body and her clothes disarrayed, raising suspicions of foul play.
An 11-member special health committee has been established to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding her death. Amit Malviya, the BJP’s central observer for West Bengal, alleged on social media platform X that the incident was a case of rape and murder and accused the state government of attempting to cover up the incident.
The victim’s family has echoed these allegations. Her father revealed that he had received a call from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who assured a comprehensive investigation into the matter. "I know that my daughter will never return. But let there be a proper investigation," he stated.
In response, the resident doctors’ association at the hospital has launched a ‘ceasework’ protest, demanding a judicial probe into the death. Despite the work stoppage, they assured that the hospital’s emergency department would remain operational until their demands are met. Additionally, the Association for Protection of Democratic Rights (APDR) also called for a judicial investigation into the tragic event.
This incident has sparked a significant outcry, with allegations of severe misconduct and demands for transparency and accountability dominating the narrative. As the investigation unfolds, public attention remains firmly focused on uncovering the truth behind this tragic and alarming incident.
