Aamir Khan’s Heartfelt Struggle: Junaid Khan Unveils the Emotional Truth Behind His Dad’s Retirement Plan

Aamir Khan’s latest theatrical venture, “Laal Singh Chaddha,” a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic “Forrest Gump” starring Tom Hanks, hit the silver screen under the direction of Advait Chandan. Despite featuring an ensemble cast that includes Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya, the film received mixed reactions from audiences, resulting in disappointing box office numbers, even though critics offered positive reviews.

Two years back, Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, made his acting debut with the Netflix film “Maharaj,” directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari. Despite facing delays due to religious controversies, the movie’s team secured a release and sparked conversations around its significant themes.

Interestingly, during the shooting of “Maharaj” and the production phase of Kiran Rao’s film “Laapataa Ladies” under Aamir’s production house, Aamir confided in Junaid about his contemplation of retirement. Junaid shared in an interview with the Times of India that his father, amidst his ‘retirement phase,’ encouraged him to take over the production responsibilities. Junaid, who has a sound understanding of film production, stepped up to the challenge, adding that both Aamir and Reena Dutta were supportive of his debut.

This year, Aamir’s production house backed Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies,” which received a warm reception on Netflix, though it didn’t fare as well in theaters. Despite the mixed box office performances, Aamir is back to entertain with “Sitaare Zameen Par,” directed by RS Prasanna and starring Genelia D’Souza, reminiscent of his 2007 directorial triumph “Taare Zameen Par.”
