Experience the Magic: From Seoul to Busan, Embark on an Unforgettable K-Drama Tour Across South Korea!
In the scenic seaside city of Pohang, South Korea, stands a red lighthouse that’s become instantly recognizable to K-drama fans. Just nearby, you’ll find a restaurant with picturesque sea views, a quaint dental clinic, bustling markets, and charming brick-wall houses—all featured as the fictional town of Gongjin in the 2021 hit series “Hometown Cha Cha Cha.” Such iconic filming locations have increasingly drawn tourists captivated by K-dramas, especially with the surge in the “Hallyu” wave during the pandemic.
In 2023 alone, 1,22,771 Indian tourists visited South Korea, with a 95% increase in early 2024. To facilitate this, the Korean Tourism Organization introduced the K-incentive scheme, making visa processing for Indian tourists more efficient between February and September 2024.
Entrepreneur and licensed therapist Jeanie Chang has leveraged this K-drama tourism boom by launching Noona’s Noonchi Tours. With trips priced from $4,900, these tours feature exhaustive itineraries covering popular filming sites and wellness activities, making a unique blend of K-drama fandom and mental health awareness.
Renowned filming locations extend beyond Pohang to places like Yonsei University and Jeju Island, captivating tourists with scenes from shows like “Moving,” “Vincenzo,” and “True Beauty.” Companies like HanaTour ITC have tapped into this trend, offering packages to sites like the scenic Pyeongchang home featured in BTS’s “In the Soop.”
Content creator Sherry Shroff has also joined the fray, organizing an eight-day tour covering Seoul, Jeonju, Busan, and Gyeongju. Priced from $3,150, her tour promises an authentic experience of Korean culture beyond just drama sites.
The allure of K-dramas continues to elevate South Korea as a prime travel destination, enchanting tourists with both popular and lesser-known locations featured in beloved shows. This cultural phenomenon has emerged as a unique and thriving segment of the global travel industry.
