In the early hours of July 29, an unidentified group set a government-owned Gypsy ablaze in Nongmynsong, Shillong. The vehicle, registered as ML 01 5989 and belonging to the Public Works Department (PWD), was completely destroyed in the incident.
According to local authorities, the fire broke out around 3 am near the Nongmensong Umkdait post office. By the time emergency services arrived, the vehicle had already incurred substantial damage.
The police have launched an investigation into the arson attack and are working to identify the individuals responsible. A case has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
