TMC Outraged and Demands Independent Probe into Shocking MPSC Exam Controversy
Trinamool Congress Demands Probe into MPSC Reassessment Process
Shillong: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Garo Hills has raised objections to the Meghalaya Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) clarification regarding the reassessment of OMR answer sheets for the preliminary examinations. The TMC has called for an independent investigation into the matter.
Richard Marak, a youth leader from TMC, criticized the MPSC’s response for not addressing allegations of nepotism, favouritism, and inconsistencies within the reassessment process. Marak has demanded a comprehensive investigation encompassing candidate selection and alleged irregularities.
Marak highlighted concerns about potential favouritism in the additional candidate list, suggesting that individuals connected to prominent figures might have received undue advantages. He also questioned the legality of this list, citing a possible breach of the 15:1 ratio mandated by Advertisement paragraph 8(1).
The MPSC had earlier assured transparency and confidentiality during the reassessment. Nevertheless, Marak contended that the commission’s actions might have compromised the examination process’s integrity.
The controversy emerged after the MPSC released an additional list of 62 candidates qualified to sit for the MCS (Mains) examinations following the reassessment, igniting accusations of nepotism and favouritism.
The TMC’s objections are the latest development in the ongoing scrutiny of the MPSC’s examination procedures, with calls for greater accountability and transparency from the commission.
