Urban Affairs and Land Management Minister Balo Raja, alongside local MLA Techi Kasso, conducted an extensive site visit in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) on Saturday. The visit aimed to inspect various centrally sponsored developmental projects within the region.

At Hollongi, Minister Raja reviewed the progress of an Eco-Park project under the Smart City Mission, located near the Donyi-Polo airport. Project officials highlighted that development had been hindered due to truck movement restrictions along the airport road. These restrictions have delayed critical tasks such as filling swampy areas and land acquisition. In response, Raja directed the CEO of the Smart City Mission to collaborate with the Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner and the Airports Authority of India, seeking special permissions to facilitate project execution while ensuring airport operations remain unaffected.

The inspection team also visited Dapo-Yarlo, a site on the city’s outskirts, where the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) is developing solid waste management facilities. IMC Mayor Tame Passang provided updates on the project’s current status and financial aspects. Raja reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing solid waste issues, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining a hygienic environment to promote public health.

Additionally, Minister Raja assessed the near-complete Septage Treatment Plant at Chimpu. He engaged in discussions with IMC officials and the project’s contractor to evaluate the progress and address any challenges.

Overall, the comprehensive site visit underscored the government’s proactive approach to ensuring the timely and efficient implementation of developmental projects in the Itanagar Capital Region, emphasizing both infrastructure development and public health improvements.
