A bomb threat on a Delhi cluster bus Sunday night triggered a swift police response, later determined to be a false alarm following a detailed inspection.
The incident began at 9:53 pm when bus conductor Deewan Singh noticed a suspicious object beneath the passenger seats. Singh immediately evacuated all passengers, ensuring their safety. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmi Chiram reported that the area was quickly secured, and the Delhi Police Bomb Disposal Team conducted a thorough investigation. The suspicious item was found to be harmless motor parts in an open bag.
“The conductor acted wisely by evacuating everyone on time,” Chiram stated. “There was no danger as the bus was empty when we arrived.”
Singh initially described the object as “bomb-like” upon discovery. The scare took place on bus route 961, which operates between Nangloi and Najafgarh Road. Authorities responded by dispatching two fire tenders to the location near Chanchal Park, Bakarwala.
The efficient actions of the bus conductor and law enforcement ensured that the situation was resolved with no harm to passengers, highlighting the importance of vigilance and prompt emergency response.
