Union Finance Minister Pledges Unwavering Support to Empower Assam’s Flood-Resilient Future: CM Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has assured him of comprehensive support for Assam as outlined in the Union Budget, aimed at building a flood-resilient economy. This assurance came after their detailed meeting in New Delhi, where Sarma discussed a multitude of state-centric issues with Sitharaman.
In a post on X, Sarma praised Sitharaman for delivering an exceptional Union Budget that emphasizes job creation, youth empowerment, women empowerment (Nari Shakti), and small businesses. He noted that these discussions were productive and covered a broad range of topics critical to Assam’s development.
Sarma highlighted the potential benefits for Assam, noting that budget announcements related to MSMEs, skill development, and the digital economy will significantly boost the state’s growth. He assured that all proposals from Assam would be swiftly implemented.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Sitharaman for the excellent “Special Assistance to States for Capex” scheme and provided suggestions to further strengthen it. Additionally, Sarma mentioned that the Finance Minister assured him of resolving issues concerning royalties from the state’s hydrocarbon industries promptly.
“I also offered suggestions to improve the capacity building of Assam’s chemical and hydrocarbon industries. The Hon’ble Finance Minister was gracious to consider them positively,” added Sarma in his post.
