Urgent Alert: Police Intensify Vigil in Bhadrachalam Amid ‘Maoist Martyrs’ Memorial Week’, Capture ‘Maoist Courier’
A Maoist courier from Chhattisgarh was apprehended by the police near the Taliperu project’s left canal in Charla mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, late on Tuesday afternoon. The detained individual, identified as Karam Sammaiah, 35, hails from Chinnagelur village in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, according to police sources.
Sammaiah was captured during a routine vehicle inspection conducted by a joint team of local police and CRPF personnel. This operation is part of enhanced security measures along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, particularly in anticipation of the CPI (Maoist)’s ‘martyrs’ memorial week’ set to commence on July 28.
In his possession, authorities found two bundles of cordex wire and a kit bag, indicating plans to procure explosive materials. Police confirmed that Sammaiah was operating under the instructions of a Maoist militia commander based in Chhattisgarh, with the intent of executing attacks on police combing parties.
The intensified scrutiny and subsequent arrest underscore the ongoing efforts to curtail Maoist activities on the border, highlighting security forces’ vigilance during this sensitive period.
