Guwahati: Suspected Robbers Injured in Police Firing While Fleeing Custody
Two suspected robbers, Asan Ali and Zahidul Islam, were apprehended in connection with the murder of a prominent businessman in Goalpara district. On Wednesday night, during a search operation, they sustained bullet injuries after allegedly attempting to escape from police custody, authorities said.
The suspects were taken to the crime scene by the police to locate hidden items related to the case. During this operation, they purportedly tried to flee by forcefully pushing a police officer. Despite repeated warnings to stop, they continued to evade, resulting in the police using minimal force to prevent their escape.
A senior police officer disclosed that the suspects had confessed to concealing items at the crime scene, prompting the search operation. Following the incident, the suspects were swiftly transferred to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The investigation remains active, with sources indicating that at least three other individuals linked to the murder are still at large. However, the police are optimistic about apprehending all involved soon.
