Shocking Transfer: Infamous Criminal from Karimganj Jail Moved to Jorhat Jail Amidst Heightened Security
Notorious Criminal Salim Uddin Transferred Amidst Ethical Violations
Salim Uddin, a well-known criminal, has been relocated from Karimganj district jail to Jorhat jail following serious accusations of unethical practices. Salim received a life imprisonment sentence for his involvement in the 2012 abduction and murder of a young man named Naaz from Bhanga Bazar.
Initially, a court had ordered Salim’s execution. However, the high court later intervened and commuted the sentence to life imprisonment. Both Salim and his accomplice, Hifjur, were subsequently imprisoned in Karimganj jail. After a few years, Salim was transferred to Silchar jail due to allegations of unethical conduct against Hifjur.
Hifjur managed to escape from Silchar jail but was later killed in a police encounter in Cachar. During his incarceration in Karimganj jail, Salim allegedly amassed a significant illicit empire and engaged in numerous immoral activities. Complaints from the Karimganj district administration and police prompted the jail IGP to finally order Salim’s transfer to Jorhat jail.
The official transfer order stated, "Sanction is hereby accorded to the transfer of life convict AC/591 Salim Uddin from District Jail, Karimganj to Central Jail, Jorhat on Administrative Grounds with prior intimation to the Jail concerned. You will be responsible for the transfer of the convict with tight security and proper escort as per rule."
Salim’s notorious activities and the subsequent administrative actions highlight the ongoing struggle to maintain ethical standards within the prison system. The transfer aims to curtail Salim’s influence and prevent further unethical practices, ensuring a more secure and regulated environment in Jorhat jail.
