“Paheli” received critical acclaim and was chosen as India’s official entry for the Oscars the next year. However, it struggled at the domestic box office, earning just under Rs 2 crore and being deemed an average grosser. Conversely, it performed well overseas, ensuring the film’s profitability in the end.
