Toddler Mauled to Death by Stray Dogs in Jawahar Nagar, Hyderabad
HYDERABAD, July 16, 2024 – An 18-month-old boy named Vihaan met a tragic end after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs near his home in Adarsh Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, on Tuesday night. The horrifying incident occurred while Vihaan was playing outside his house. Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the dogs dragged and later mauled him.
His distraught parents, Bharat and Lakshmi, discovered his body with the help of locals who managed to scare the dogs away. The severely injured child was immediately rushed to a private hospital. Despite medical efforts, Vihaan succumbed to injuries on his head, limbs, and torso around 9:30 p.m., according to police reports.
Jawahar Nagar, situated in the northeastern part of Hyderabad, is known for its large migrant population and serves as a landfill site for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The bereaved parents, originally from Siddipet, now face immeasurable grief over the loss of their young son.
In response to the tragic event, the Jawahar Nagar police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS, addressing the suspicious nature of the death. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances and are calling for increased measures to manage the stray dog population in the area to prevent similar incidents.
