Summary:
Guwahati: Seven Bangladeshis Arrested for Illegal Entry
Seven Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, were apprehended in Assam and Tripura on Tuesday for unlawfully entering India, according to officials. Additionally, two Indian facilitators were also detained. Out of the seven, five were arrested at Guwahati railway station by the Government Railway Police (GRP). They had entered India illegally on Saturday, seeking employment. Among them, one individual hails from Bagherhat, while the rest are from Sunamganj, both in Bangladesh.
GRP Officer-in-Charge Abhishek Bodo reported that these individuals arrived at Guwahati station on Monday without proper documentation. Preliminary investigations revealed they were lured by a broker with promises of jobs in Bengaluru. "The GRP teams, during routine checks, apprehended them near the ticket counter on Tuesday morning," Bodo specified.
In Tripura, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and GRP arrested two Bangladeshi nationals along with two Indian touts from Sepahijala and West Tripura districts. The touts are from Assam and West Bengal. This action underscores the ongoing challenge of illegal immigration in the region and the associated security concerns.
