Meghalaya CM’s Heartwarming Visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan with Pineapple Festival Heroes
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, accompanied by farmers and entrepreneurs who participated in the 2nd Meghalaya Pineapple Festival at Dilli Haat, New Delhi, recently visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan. This visit underscores CM Sangma’s commitment to empowering the state’s farmers and entrepreneurs and highlights their critical role in Meghalaya’s economy.
The delegation, comprising 19 farmers, 10 entrepreneurs, and several government officials, including CVD Diengdoh, IAS Secretary, Planning Department, visited the ‘Janjatiya Darpan,’ a tribal art gallery at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The gallery featured beadworks and necklaces from the Khasi and Garo Hills of Meghalaya, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Farmers expressed their excitement about the recognition and support they received. Farmer Badashisha Lapang reflected on the Pineapple Festival’s success and the global export of Meghalaya pineapples, attributing it to the government’s efforts. Another farmer highlighted the morale boost from the visit, feeling their hard work was valued at the highest level.
During the visit, CM Sangma emphasized national integration, recognizing the farmers’ presence at Rashtrapati Bhavan as a moment of pride. He also reiterated the government’s collaborative efforts in promoting agricultural growth and entrepreneurship in Meghalaya.
Cyril V. D. Diengdoh, IAS Secretary, Planning Department, expressed the state’s dedication to agricultural advancement and encouraging farmers to explore growth opportunities. The state recently exported over 3.5 tonnes of pineapples to the Middle East, highlighting the success of the government’s Mission Mode Interventions.
Entrepreneurs also shared their positive experiences, with Robina J Sangma from PRIME Meghalaya praising the government’s continuous support, which motivates innovation and business expansion.
The visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan exemplifies Meghalaya’s commitment to empowering grassroots communities and underscores ongoing efforts to promote economic development and national harmony.
