Security Forces Thwart Kidnapping Plot, Arrest Five KCP-N Members in Manipur
In a significant security operation, five members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-N) Nongdrenkhomba Group were apprehended on July 14 as law enforcement foiled an attempted kidnapping and extortion scheme in Kakching Khunou, Manipur.
The suspects, identified as Soibam Lanchanba Meitei (25), Soibam Manoj Singh (27), Heisnam Dipak Meitei (39), Nameirakpam Nelson Singh (20), and Nongthombam Leishemba (23), allegedly planned to abduct a person for ransom.
Security forces, acting on intelligence inputs, intercepted the group and seized several incriminating items, including:
- Two pistols, each equipped with a magazine loaded with five live rounds
- Three mobile phones
- Three camouflage uniforms
- One Bolero vehicle without a license plate
The swift and decisive action by the security personnel not only prevented the abduction but also led to the capture of the armed suspects.
Local authorities have registered a case and launched an extensive investigation to uncover further details and possible accomplices involved in the plot.
