A dance video shot by a woman at the Collectorate building in Gwalior has ignited a social media storm, as users criticize her for choosing an official venue instead of traditional scenic spots. In the pursuit of viral fame, individuals are increasingly resorting to controversial settings for their videos, a trend that has recently come under fire. Gwalior’s latest example features a woman from Madhya Pradesh, who performed to the popular song “Tip Tip Barsa Pani” from the movie “Mohra,” starring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon, while wearing a black saree.
The choice of the Collectorate premises, over local attractions like the Gwalior Fort, Baijtaal, or the Italian Garden, has led to widespread mockery and strong disapproval online. Her video, shared on Instagram, quickly attracted a barrage of negative comments, culminating in formal complaints. Notably, social worker Akash Barua filed a written complaint with the Gwalior Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), advocating for stringent action against the woman for what he termed as inappropriate behavior.
Barua expressed grave concerns about the potential harm to the city’s image and the implications for younger audiences. “A large number of people visit historical places every day. If such videos are shot at these public spots, they can bring a bad name to the city,” Barua emphasized to the Free Press Journal.
